Flag of Kyrgyzstan

The flag of Kyrgyzstan shows on red background (red is one of the traditional Mongolian Colours) a yellow sun with 40 rays. The rays represent the Kyrgyz tribes.

On the front of the flag of the rays run counterclockwise, on the back clockwise. In the center of the sun is shown a red ring is crossed twice by three lines. These lines are a stylized representation of the roof ( Tündük ) a traditional Kyrgyz yurt.

The flag was adopted on March 3, 1992.

History

Inhabited since the Bronze Age land led several flags throughout history. With the creation of the Kokand khanate the root nation got its own state, but this was conquered in 1876 by Russia.

Among the Russians the territory of Kyrgyzstan with the other Central Asian khanates to the " General Turkestan " was summarized and this resulted in a flag that was the Ottoman inspired by: A nine- times red-white split cloth, which hung between stripes 3 and 7, a red box and where there was a white crescent with a star. This indicated to the viewer that the population of Turkestan were mostly Turkic origin.

With the collapse of the Russian Empire ( 1917) this Khanate was again independent and there was a flag that was clearly influenced Turkish: A horizontal red and blue striped flag, which was launched with star, a white crescent.

With this flag, the meaning was clear: red-blue stand for the mixing of the Mongols and the Turks as their heirs themselves saw the former Kara- Kirghiz.

With the establishment of the USSR Kyrgyzstan part of the "Autonomous Soviet Republic of Turkestan "; whose flag was the red cloth of the Communists in Obereck a gold rimmed red box with the initials of the state name in Arabic script.

After dissolution of the Turkestan ASSR (1924 ) has now been established in the Kyrgyz ASSR as part of Russia, which also later included not only Kazakhstan Kyrgyzstan. Flag this was the ASSR of the Russian province of Turkestan, from now on shared Kyrgyzstan flag history of Kazakhstan.

In 1936 the autonomous ASSR Kyrgyzstan was founded. Their flag was the communist red cloth in the upper canton of the country name ( Kyrgyz and Russian ) in the font Serif was indicated since March 31, 1937: КЫРГЫЗ ССР ( Kyrgyz SSR) and КИРГИЗСКАЯ ССР ( Kirgizskaja SSR).

On December 22, 1952 version of the Soviet flag was introduced that additionally a blue- bordered white center stripe had: the blue color was for the people of the Kyrgyz people and the white represents the snow-capped mountains in the country. On the front of the flag icons found the hammer, sickle and star.

There are varying reports as to whether the flag of the SSR was used without " hammer - and - sickle symbol " and communist star or with these symbols between the demise of the USSR in 1989/90 and the introduction of the currently valid flag.
