Flag of Montenegro
The current flag of Montenegro was adopted on 12 July 2004.
History
The flag goes back to the historical flag, which was valid until the First World War, during the period of the first Montenegrin independence ( see below).
The golden border lion in the breastplate of the eagle is an old Montenegrin national symbol and was taken from the coat of arms of Montenegro.
