Flavio Chigi (1711–1771)

Flavio Chigi ( born September 8 in 1711 in Rome, † July 12, 1771 ) was a Roman Catholic cardinal. To distinguish it from its predecessor of the same name he is known as Flavio Chigi the Younger.

Chigi was descended from the noble family of Chigi and was related to Fabio Chigi, later Pope Alexander VII. Initially, he worked for the Apostolic Chamber. He was made ​​a cardinal deacon by Pope Benedict XIV on November 26, 1753, his titular church on 10th December, 1753 San Angelo Church in pescheria, the ordination to the diaconate took place on June 2, 1754. He took part in the conclave in 1758 which Clement XIII. elected pope. On 12 February 1759, he chose Santa Maria in Campitelli Portico as his titular church. On the same day he was appointed Prefect of the Sacred Congregation of Rites. 1769 he was a member of the conclave that elected Pope Clement XIV. After his death on July 12, 1771, he was buried in the chapel of his family in the church of Santa Maria del Popolo in Rome.
