Florence and the Machine

Florence the Machine ( spoken Florence and the Machine ) are an English band around singer-songwriter Florence Leontine Mary Welch ( born August 28, 1986 in London) in collaboration with other musicians. The debut album Lungs was released on 6 July 2009 and reached number one in the UK. Overall, more than 6 million albums have been sold worldwide. Lead singer of the band is Florence Welch. Born and raised in Camberwell, south London, Welch attended the workshop for Camberwell College of Arts, where they but their training in Art Foundation dropped out to pursue her music career. The name of the band was created by an earlier collaboration between Florence Welch and Isabella Summers, who got the nickname " Machine".
