Florence Arthaud

Florence Arthaud ( born October 28, 1957 in Boulogne- Billancourt, near Paris ) is a French sailor and skipper. She is the daughter of the publisher Jacques Arthaud, who once headed the Arthaud -Verlag ( Flammarion group). In France she is wearing since the 1990s, nicknamed " the little fiancée of the Atlantic" (Fr. la petite fiancée de l' Atlantique).

She has won major regattas. In 1981, she finished second in the Twostar ( rating Monohull). In 1990 she became the first woman's Rating prestigious Route du Rhum and the third at the Twostar ( overall). In the same year she was selected by the sports newspaper L' Équipe to France athletes ( in ) of the Year ( " champion of champions" ); it was so far ( as of 2010) the only time that this title was given to a sailor. In addition, Arthaud took in 1990 in duet with the singer Pierre Bachelet successful on the French radio stations song Flo on.
