Food labeling regulations

The food labeling regulation ( LMKV ) regulates the labeling of food in Germany, which are delivered prepacked to the end user.

  • Prepackaged packs that have been filled and sealed in the absence of the consumer
  • End-users are all households. Equivalent to them are restaurants and caterers

Therefore, the LMKV does not apply to packages that are sold to commercial processors - these are, for example, bakeries, pastry, pasta or pizza maker.

Except packs whose surface is less than 10 cm ².

Elements of the labeling

Since 25 November 2005 also allergens in foods must be labeled in the EU. See allergen labeling. ( s.a. )
