Francis Karl Alter

Franz Karl age (* January 27, 1749 in Engelberg, † May 29, 1804 in Vienna ) was a linguist.

Life

Born on January 27, 1749 in Engelberg, Franz Karl age at Olomouc school was represented. In 1766 he entered the Jesuit Order, but after its dissolution, he moved to Vienna. He then studied both church history and Greek and Hebrew at the University of Prague, to teach at a local high school. After he then in Vienna on Public School Foundation Theresianische Academy was a teacher, he was placed in 1779 as a scientific assistant at the library of the local university. 1777-1779, he was also been a teacher in the town of St. Anna. At the same time he held regarding diplomacy at the University lectures. Age dominated both oriental and Slavic Languages ​​and dealt with Hellenism; his linguistic talent came through his writing action to light. In one of his works he speaks of 165 written works. In Vienna, he died on 29 May 1804.
