François Clerc ( born April 18, 1983 in Bourg -en- Bresse ) is a French football player.

Career

Clubs

François Clerc began his career at Olympique Lyon, where he already played in the youth team. He initially served only in the reserve team. At the beginning of the 2004/05 season Clerc was loaned to FC Toulouse, since he could hardly hope to Erstligaeinsätze in Lyon. His first league game he played on August 14, 2004 at home to Racing Strasbourg. But also in Toulouse, he came only to seven inserts and after a year back to Lyon. There he was only third choice on the position of right-back behind Anthony Réveillère and Lamine Diatta. But when both were due to injury or because of national absent, Clerc came to several operations and was thus able to even fight for a regular place.

His contract with Olympique Lyon ran until the end of June 2010 and was not renewed. He then hired at OGC Nice, which he left in the summer of 2012 after two years and moved to AS Saint- Étienne. National

His first major international appearance was Clerc at the 2006 U-21 European Championships in Portugal, where he failed to the Netherlands with France in the semifinals. The defender has been used twice.

Clerc made ​​his debut for the senior team on 11 October 2006 against the Faroe Islands. In the European Championship finals in 2008, he belonged to the French squad, but was not used.
