Frank Doyle (ice hockey)

Frank Doyle ( born September 8, 1980 in Guelph, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who is under contract with SHC Fassa in the Italian Serie A1 since June 2010.

Career

First played Frank Doyle from 2002 to 2004 for two years for the University of Maine in the National Collegiate Athletic Association before the first time in professional hockey came into use in the 2004/05 season. For the Idaho Steelheads, the former farm team of the Utah Grizzlies of the American Hockey League, the left catcher came in the ECHL in 52 games for use. Opposite end of the season Doyle was appointed by the Grizzlies in the AHL squad, and came into the AHL for his debut. This he lost with his crew but 1:5 for the Manchester Monarchs.

Without being ever selected in an NHL Entry Draft, the goalkeeper signed on 15 August 2005 a contract as a free agent with the New Jersey Devils. In the season 2005/ 06, however, Doyle played exclusively for their AHL farm team, the Albany River Rats, and in the next two years for the new AHL farm team of New Jersey, the Lowell Devils. On 1 September 2008 the Canadians signed an initial employment contract for three months at the former German vice-champion Kölner Haie, who committed him as a replacement for the seriously ill Robert Mueller. His DEL debut Frank Doyle on September 7, 2008 during the Cologne 0-2 defeat at the DEG Metro Stars. On 12 November 2008, the Sharks announced that Doyle's contract was extended until the end of the season. He subsequently received a new contract.

In November and December 2009 he played with the Charlotte Checkers, before he was hired in January 2010 by the Alaska Aces. Between February and May 2010, he was in the squad of the Worcester Sharks, which are the farm team of the NHL clubs San Jose Sharks. In June 2010 he signed a contract with the Italian first division SHC Fassa.
