Frans Andriessen

Franciscus Henricus Johannes Joseph ( Frans) Andriessen ( born April 2, 1929 in Utrecht) is a Dutch politician ( first Catholic People's Party ( KVP ), later Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA ), the successor party to the CIP).

He was a member of the 1967 Tweede Kamer of the Dutch parliament for the CIP. From 1977 to 1980 he was the Dutch Minister of Finance.

From 1981 to 1993 Andriessen was European Commissioner. From 1981 to 1985 he was responsible for relations with Parliament and competition in the Thorn Commission. From 1985 to 1989 he was responsible for agriculture and fisheries in the Delors Commission I. In the Commission, Delors II he was then from 1989 to 1993 in charge of External Relations and Trade Policy.
