Franz de Paula Triesnecker

Franz de Paula Triesnecker ( born April 2, 1745 in Mallon, Kirchberg am Wagram, † January 29, 1817 in Vienna ) was an Austrian astronomer, surveyor, mathematician, philosopher and theologian. He belonged to the Jesuit Order. According to him, a moon crater and a groove structure are named on the moon.

Life

1761 joined Triesnecker the Jesuit Order. From 1764 to 1768, he completed the studies ancient languages ​​in Szakolcz, philosophy in Vienna and mathematics and languages ​​in Trnava. He was ordained in 1774 to the subdeacon, deacon and priest. After the death of Maximilian Hell 1792 Triesnecker became his successor as director of the Vienna University Observatory. 1796 was the measurement of Galicia by him together with Georg Mezburg.
