Franz Hein

Franz Hein (* June 30, 1892 in Grötzingen (Karlsruhe ), † 26 February 1976 in Jena ) was a German chemist.

Life

Franz Hein, son of the artist of the same name, studied from 1912 to 1917 chemistry, physics and mathematics in Leipzig. In 1917 the Promotion, 1921, the Habilitation of Chemistry at the University of Leipzig. From 1921 to 1923 he was lecturer in chemistry at the University of Leipzig, Plao 1923-1942. Professor of Inorganic Chemistry in Leipzig. From 1942 to 1946 he was Full Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Jena and there re-appointed as Full Professor of Inorganic Chemistry 1946-1956.

He was a member

  • The German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina,
  • Of Mathematics and Natural Sciences class of the Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig 1951-1976,
  • The German Academy of Sciences in Berlin in 1953
  • And Corresponding Member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences since 1964.

Hein was a member of Reichsluftschutzbund since 1934, the National Socialist Factory Cell Organization in 1933, the National Socialist Teachers' Association from 1933 to 1939, in the National Socialist People's Welfare from 1934 to 1945 and in the National Socialist German lecturers Federation 1939-1945. In 1933 he signed the confession of professors at German universities and colleges to Adolf Hitler.

In 1952 he was awarded the National Prize of the GDR.
