Franz Rothenbacher

Franz Roth Bacher ( born December 14, 1954 in Schelkingen ) is a German sociologist.

Academic Career

Rothbacher studied from 1975 to 1981 for the Diploma in Sociology at the University of Mannheim. Then he was up to mid-1982 research assistant at the Collaborative Research Centre 3 Microanalytical Foundations of Social Policy ( Frankfurt and Mannheim). From mid- 1982 to 1988, Roth was Bacher scientific assistant at the Chair of Sociology III (Wolfgang Zapf) of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Mannheim, where he phil 1988 his examination Dr.. took off in sociology. Research

Rothbacher dealt first with the long-term analysis of social change in Germany, also known as modernization. His intention was to apply the perspective of social reporting and social indicators to historical processes and structures.

At the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research ( MZES ) he worked on the construction of the infrastructure department euro Data and the European statistics library. The perspective of modernization (Peter Flora) and the territorial structure of Europe ( Stein Rokkan ) formed the basis for extensive long-term and comparative data collections for the European countries, which appear in the Data Book series, The Societies of Europe.
