Franz von Seitz

Franz Seitz ( born December 31, 1817 in Munich, † April 13, 1883 ) was a German painter, lithographer, etcher and costume as well as high school teacher and theater director.

Life

His father was Johann Baptist Seitz (1786-1850), who had established himself as writing engraver, cartographer and mechanics in Munich a name. Seitz studied at the Munich Art Academy under Professor Joseph Schlotthauer and worked independently as a lithographer and etcher. In 1848 he took over the artistic direction of the satirical magazine flares. From 1855 he was the Munich Court Theatre Costume. 1858 he was appointed professor at the Munich Academy of Art. In 1869 he was artistic director of the Court Theatre and Head of the stage equipment of the court and residential theater. 1876 ​​was his retirement, and he became an honorary member of the Academy of Arts.
