Fred J. Doocy

Fred J. Doocy ( born May 5, 1913) is a former American politician. In the years 1966 and 1967 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Connecticut.

Career

About the youth and education of Fred Doocy nothing is handed down. He lived in South Windsor. Later he worked in the banking industry for the Hartford National Bank & Trust Company. During the Second World War he served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party. In his home town of South Windsor, he held several local offices; among other things, he was there three times city treasurer. Since 1959 he was a member of the Senate of Connecticut, whose current President ( President Pro Tempore ) he was since 1963.

Following the resignation of Lieutenant Governor Samuel J. Tedesco in 1966 Doocy moved as Acting President of the Senate on the site of the Lieutenant Governor. This office he held until January 1967, the regular end of the term. On re-election he had renounced. As Lieutenant Governor, he was Deputy Governor John N. Dempsey. After his time as Lieutenant Governor Fred Doocy was a member of various government committees. Since the 1980s, however, it is no longer politically have appeared. He is now over 100 years old.
