Frederick VIII, Count of Zollern

Frederick VIII of Zollern († 1333), called " Easter " was a Count of Hohenzollern.

Life

Friedrich was the younger son of Count Friedrich VI. of Zollern from his marriage to Gwendolyn (1265-1310), daughter of Margrave Rudolf I von Baden. Frederick VIII joined in 1309, after the death of his brother Frederick VII, as the reigning Count on and ruled the death of his nephew Fritzli I. to 1313 alone Zollern. In the division of the country with his brother, he had founded the line of Hohenzollern.

The Count was portrayed in old letters as a serene and benevolent person. He liked to spend a lot of time with his family. Equally, however, he was, as described, another author, a determined man of war. He participated in the great battles of his party first time on the part of Austria, and finally on the side of the Emperor Louis of Bavaria.
