Friedrich Kaiser

Friedrich Kaiser ( born April 3, 1814 Biberach an der Riss, † November 6, 1874 in Vienna ) was an Austrian actor and writer.

Life

Kaiser was a son of k.k. Lieutenant Franz Joseph Emperor and his wife Franziska Grelz. Together with his family he came in his childhood in Vienna. His school, he graduated from the academic high school and then began to study philosophy at the university of his native city. At the same time he was also student the painter Ferdinand Georg Müller forest.

Already as a student emperor tried as a writer. When he in 1833 for an internship at the Vienna Hofkriegsrat began, he was encouraged in his literary work and has already in the following year with another comedy ( " Rendezvous " ) successful debut.

During this time, Emperor made, inter alia, acquaintance with the theater director Carl Carl and this staged Emperor " Rendezvous " under the title " Hans rabbit's head ." In the following years emperor stood at Carl annually under contract for six comedies. When the comedy " Bride and Wolf " in 1836, a large - particularly financial - success was emperor announced his position and devoted himself only to writing.

1845 Kaiser moved to the Josefstadt theater F. Pokorny, but there he was with his plays less and less success. Maybe it was the Emperor's disease in 1846, but perhaps only to the politically uncertain times (Revolution ). On March 13, 1848 he was allowed a petition for the abolition of censorship present the Lower Austrian Estates.

After the Revolution, Emperor acted again as a playwright for director Carl and his theater. When he died in 1854, he worked Nestroy and the Son Pokorny with Johann Nepomuk. Emperor had (according to NDB ) an affair with Marie von Pospischill and from an illegitimate daughter; Henrietta (* 1854).

1862 Kaiser moved back from the theater and on the edge of Vienna down. He lived in very humble circumstances and his financial situation was not greatly improve through his literary works. Emperor died at the age of 60 years on November 6, 1874 in Vienna and found his final resting place.

In 1894 in Vienna Ottakring ( 16th district ), the Friedrich -Kaiser- alley named after him.

Reception

Kaiser wrote nearly 150 plays, mostly comedies and popular pieces of Viennese popular theater, which came to the show for the most part at the Theater an der Wien and at the Carl Theatre. He can claim that theater genre of life image ( also character image, time picture, genre scene, etc.) have been invented. Johann Nepomuk Nestroy mocked them as "serious farce ". Emperor model for this was the Parisian melodrama.

To Nestroys time was Emperor of the most important playwrights of Vienna. His efforts to a serious folk play has continued Ludwig Anzengruber.

Trivia

1841 created a portrait of Emperor Franz Eybl as lithography; the following year the Emperor was also portrayed by Franz Eybl. 1844 J. Cajetan painted his picture " The people's poet Friedrich Kaiser announced on 15 3 1848 Constitution".
