Friedrich Voss

Friedrich Voss (* July 7, 1872 in Calvörde; † March 3, 1953 in Kiel ) was a German engineer. He attended the Technical University of Braunschweig. As an engineer, he joined in 1897 in the service of the Water Planning Department City Harburg on the Elbe. 1903 Voss was appointed as a technical aid workers to the Ministry of Public Works, in 1908 as head of the newly created as part of the extensions of the former Kaiser Wilhelm Canal Bridge Office, within the Imperial Canal Office. Voss designed with the 1912 finished high bridge in Holtenau in 1913 completed railway bridge in Rendsburg and in 1920 completed railway bridge in Hochdonn three high bridges over the North Sea-Baltic Canal.

1923 Voss from different health reasons from the civil service and founded in Kiel together with two of his employees an engineering firm.

In addition to the high bridges over the North Sea-Baltic Canal Voss designed numerous other bridges, including the 1961 decommissioned Rendsburgerstrasse swing bridge over the North Sea-Baltic Canal, a road bridge over the river Eider near Friedrichstadt and a bascule bridge over the river Eider in Lexfähre, a bascule bridge in Duisburg, a rail and road bridge over the Rethe in Hamburg and a bridge over the Rhine at Krefeld -Uerdingen.

1922 was awarded to Friedrich Voss of the Technical University of Braunschweig honorary doctorate. On March 4, 1953 one day after his death, him the Order of Merit (plug- cross) was presented.

His grave is located on the Park Cemetery in Eichhof Kronshagen.
