Friedrich Wilhelm Eckhardt

Friedrich Wilhelm Eckhardt ( born February 25, 1892 in Kassel, † April 9, 1961 in Niederlehme ) was a German engineer and head of the design office of the Berliner Maschinenbau - Actien Society formerly L. Schwartzkopff.

Friedrich Wilhelm Eckhardt worked first at Henschel & Sohn and moved in 1916 to L. Schwartzkopff. In 1936 he became chief engineer.

He was instrumental in the designs of the steam locomotives of the series 41 and series 84. For the latter he developed named after him Schwartzkopff Eckhardt steering rack to improve Kurvenläufigkeit of steam locomotives.

He also published several books on the construction and design of steam locomotives.
