Fritz Schulz (actor)

Fritz Schulz ( born April 25, 1896 in Karlsbad, Austria - Hungary, † May 9, 1972 in Zurich ) was a German film and stage actor, director and singer.

Life

After a civic education he began in the 1910s, his real career in the film (probably around 1914 ). In the silent era, he was mainly Supporting Actor. Only with the sound film he could fully develop his talents. In the years 1930-1933 he was one of the busiest German film actor and made in Berlin for eight shots records ( shellac records ). Married Schulz was with actress Countess Agnes Esterhazy. In 1933, he starred in two English films. After his return to Germany he was expelled from the Reich Film Chamber, as it was probably a Jew.

He went to Vienna, where he was co-founder of the first independent film company. He turned and took further films in 1937 again three records on. From the annexation of Austria he was surprised and probably came in the Buchenwald concentration camp. Thanks to the efforts of his wife but he was released and fled to Switzerland, where he could continue his career with difficulty. He made ​​few films, but both designed to stage plays. After the war, he came only to theater and film roles to Germany, his permanent residence was Porto Ronco ( Ronco sopra Ascona ). Overall, Fritz Schulz must have appeared in over 150 films, most of them, however, apply to be lost. At the age of 76 years he died in 1972 in Zurich.
