History

Although the village is certainly older, dated the earliest known documentary evidence for Frohnau from St. Martin's in 1397, when Henry I, Viscount of Meissen, the judge Paul Richter enfeoffed to Großrückerswalde with a wooded area, which was intersected by a road, " walketh as Geyer Dorff can hike up Fronaw ". According to a document from the year 1411 Frohnau together with small Großrückerswalde, Geyersdorf, Dörfel and Tannenberg belonged to the rule Pöhlberg. The name was in 1911, so interpreted by Leo Bönhoff as the composition of the Central German words Fron and awe of a majestic river valley. Another possibility for the derivation of the name is the interpretation of " Frohne " as " Mr. Walden ," what could be a historic designation for the Sauwald.

Once, according to legend, by Caspar Nietzel, a silver gear was found in October 1491 at the Schreckenberg, began a mining rush. Already in 1493, a first order mountain on terror mountain, under the influence of the mining office in Geyer, adopted. Ultimately led the silver discoveries in 1496 founded the " New City on Schreckenberg ", which got a little later named St. Annaberg, in the grounds of the mill in Frohnau. Whether therefore the lower mill, known as Mr. Mill, or the upper mill is meant on the site of Frohnauer hammer, is controversial and not detectable in the final Anna Berger local historians. 1498 brought the young mountain town the right to mint coins of Wettin. The mill was therefore extended in the same year by a mint, in which the known as Schreckenberger or angel dime silver coin was minted. The mint was relocated but already 1502 Annaberg. Cheerfulness was originally gepfarrt Minor Großrückerswalde, but was rejected there after the building of the Church of St. Anne in Annaberg, where the village is today einbezirkt church.

The result was the original village of Frohnau, which included a field corridor of 8 3/4 hooves, considerably affected by mining. Evidence of the high number of cottagers in the 16th century, belonged to the profession of miners or related professions such as carpenters or mountain forges for the most part. The resulting mountain building and dump trains in the corridor testify to the past splendor of mining in Frohnau. As the most important mine buildings at the start of the 19th century called Albert Schiffner Markus Röhling, King David, the Galliläische husbandry, the young Andrew's Stolln, tilting grove with ten thousand knights, beer beak and farmer.

As tangible evidence of the once rain mining activity on site, the visitor mine Mark Röhling - Stolln can be ridden. At the old mine buildings of the treasure trove that Huthaus, the renovated horse gin and Bergschmiede are obtained. The 1657-1904 used as Zain, stuff and Waffenhammer Frohnauer hammer is one of the most tangible witnesses of the proto- industrial development in the Erzgebirge. He is one of only three of the formerly obtained more than 100 iron forges of the Ore Mountains. He is the first designated as a technical monument building in Saxony and has been visited by nearly 8 million visitors. The Frohnauer trail connects to about 10 km in length various mining objects and viewpoints as mining trail.

Cheerfulness was incorporated on 1 January 1996 in the neighboring towns of Annaberg -Buchholz.
