Erzgebirgskreis

Erzgebirge is since 1 August 2008, a district in the Saxon Erzgebirge. The county seat of Erzgebirgskreises is Annaberg -Buchholz. He is the most populous district in Saxony.

Geography

The district encompasses nearly the entire Saxon Western and Central Ore Mountains, on the ridge region on the German - Czech border up to the transition to Erzgebirgsbecken between the cities of Chemnitz and Zwickau.

History

As part of the administrative reform of the country's authorities took place on 1 August 2008 a Saxon district reform, in the districts of Aue -Schwarzenberg, Annaberg, Stollberg and Middle Erzgebirgskreis with her at this time a total of 28 cities and 43 municipalities were merged into one Erzgebirgskreis.

As county seat Annaberg -Buchholz was confirmed on 23 January 2008. Traffic

The main roads in the Erzgebirge District are the main roads.
