Fronte Nuovo delle Arti

Fronte Nuovo delle Arti was an Italian artist group. The group was founded in 1946 by artists Bruno Cassinari, Renato Birolli, Guttuso, Leoncillo Leonardi, Ennio Morlotti, Armando Pizzinato, Giuseppe Santomas, Emilio Vedova, Alberto Viani and existed until 1952.

These artists had in common the Manifesto Manifesto di fondazione della Nuova secessione Artistica Italiana ( For a " New Secession in Italy " ) signed on the initiative of Renato Birolli 1946 in Venice, and thus founded as a precursor of the Fronte Nuovo delle Arti, the artistic movement Nuova secessione Artistica Italiana.

The name Fronte Nuovo delle Arti (Italian for "New Front of the Arts " ) was first used for an exhibition of the artists participating in the "Gallery della Spiga " ( "Gallery of ear " ) in Milan. Among the signatories and members of the Nuova secessione Artistica Italiana nor the artist Antonio Corpora, Pericle Fazzini, Nino Francisco China and Giulio Turcato came to the Fronte Nuovo delle Arti in Milan added.

Characteristics of the participating artists was the Abstract painting, which was also influenced by Orphism. Another major influence was the work of Pablo Picasso on painting, especially its prismatic structure of the image elements. In 1948, representatives of the group presented their work at the Venice Biennale. 1952 left the abstract artists working group and founded on the initiative of the art historian and art critic Lionello Venturi ( 1885-1961 ), the artist group Gruppo degli Otto. Renato Guttoso and Armando Pizzinato turned henceforth in their art an expressive realism.
