Gabriela Ortiz
Gabriela Ortiz Torres ( born December 20, 1964 in Mexico City) is a Mexican composer.
Ortiz studied composition with Mario Lavista at the National Conservatory and Federico Ibarra at the University of Mexico. In 1990 she received a scholarship from the British Council, to study with Robert Saxton at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. With a scholarship from the University of Mexico in 1992, she began a PhD degree in electro-acoustic music with Simon Emmerson at City University London. She teaches composition at the University of Mexico.
