The Hendaye train station is a French border station in the department of Pyrénées- Atlantiques in the Aquitaine region.

Location

The station is located on the territory of the town of Hendaye, close to the border with Spain at a height of 9 meters above the sea level. It lies close to the sea at the Baie de Chingoudy which is fed from the border river Bidasoa.

Description

The Hendaye train station is the penultimate station on the railway line Bordeaux - Irun railway terminal as well as the Spanish railway line Madrid- Hendaye. Similar to the train station Latour -de- Carol - Enveitg meet in Hendaye distances with three gauges, but the narrow range of Ferrocarriles Vasco El Topo San Sebastián- Amara ends on the street side in front of the reception building of the State railway station.

In Hendaye train station take, as in the neighboring Spanish station Irun, the French standard gauge and the Iberian broad gauge each other, also two different current systems. Both stations are connected by two single track sections in control and Iberian broad gauge. The distance between them is 2.27 kilometers from the last switch on the one until the first of the other less than 200 meters. In between the Bidasoa and running in their midst border to be crossed on a bridge.
