Garikapati Varalakshmi

G. Varalakshmi ( Garikipati Varalakshmi; Telugu. జి వరలక్ష్మి; born 27 September 1926 in Ongole, † 26 November 2006 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu ) was an Indian actress, singer and film producer. She starred in the Tamil and Telugu film.

Life

Varalakshmi came from Set in the present-day Andhra Pradesh Ongole place. At the age of eleven, she ran away from home to Vijayawada and joined theater troops. In the 1950s and 60s, she took on main and character roles in Telugu and Tamil films. She played both with her husband and with the Tamil Stars MG Ramachandran, including in Gul -e- Bakavali (1955), Sivaji Ganesan and in Naan Petra Selvan (1956).

In the written and produced by her Telugu film Moogajeevulu (1968 ) she was cast and led to direct myself. G. Varalakshmi played in at least 94 films. After 1980 she retired from film work.
