Garry Valk

Garry Valk ( born November 27, 1967 in Edmonton, Alberta ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who during his playing career for the Vancouver Canucks, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Pittsburgh Penguins, Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League on the played position of left winger.

Career

Garry Valk began his career in 1984 at the Sherwood Park Crusaders of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, before moving in 1987 to the Hockey Team of the University of North Dakota in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. In a total of 121 games he reached 105 points and received 227 penalty minutes. Valk was selected at the NHL Entry Draft in 1987 by the Vancouver Canucks in the sixth round of a total of 108 positions. In the 1990/91 season he ran in 64 NHL games on for the Canucks and collected 21 points scorer. In the same season he also completed 13 games for the Milwaukee Admirals in the International Hockey League and was credited 16 points. In the following two years was one of the Canadian squad to the root of the Canucks and qualified the team for the play-offs, where in the second round, the team was eliminated from the competition at the latest. For the 1993/94 season he left the franchise and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim joined them.

For Californians, he could earn a regular place within a short time and scored in his first season, 45 points for the Ducks. Valk also ran in the subsequent period regularly for the Southern Californians on the ice, but was unable to repeat his previous performance here and missed with the team each play-offs. In 1997 he moved to the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he scored ten points in 56 NHL games. A year later he gave it off to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Again, where he managed an increase in performance and qualified with the Maple Leafs for the final round. After the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins were defeated in the first two rounds, the team was defeated in the Conference Finals in five games against the Buffalo Sabres.

In the play-offs, the team finally defeated in six games against the New Jersey Devils. For the 2002/ 03 season, he stood for the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League and the Chicago Blackhawks on the ice. Then Valk ended his active career.
