Gary A. Lee

Gary Alcide Lee ( born August 18, 1933, Buffalo, New York) is an American politician. Between 1979 and 1983 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Gary Lee attended the public schools in Corning and then to 1951 the local Northside High School. Between 1952 and 1956 he served in the United States Navy. Subsequently, he studied until 1960 at Colgate University in Hamilton. Then he studied until 1963 at Cornell University in Ithaca. Between 1963 and 1970 he worked in education in administration and as a consultant. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. Until 1974, he held in his home several local offices. He also participated in 1966-1970 as a delegate to the regional party days of the Republican part of his state. From 1974 to 1978 he sat as an MP in the New York State Assembly.

In the congressional elections of 1978, Lee was the 33rd electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of William F. Walsh on January 3, 1979. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1983 two legislative sessions. In 1982, he was not nominated by his party for re-election. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, he was Vice President of the company IC Industries, Inc. He is currently chairman of the Republican district in Lee County in Florida.
