Henry J. Nowak

Henry James Nowak ( born February 21, 1935 in Buffalo, New York) is an American politician. Between 1975 and 1993 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Henry Nowak attended the public schools of his native land and from then until 1953, the Riverside High School, also in Buffalo. Subsequently, he studied until 1957 at the city's Canisius College. During this time, he was a successful basketball player at the University of team. In the years 1957 and 1958 and again from 1961 to 1962, he served in the U.S. Army. After studying law at the University of Buffalo and his 1961 was admitted to the bar he began to work in this profession. In 1964 he was deputy district attorney in Erie County; 1964 to 1974 he worked at the local district administration as Comptroller. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party. In 1970 he was a delegate to the regional party conference in New York State; in July 1972 he took part in Miami Beach at the Democratic National Convention.

In the congressional elections of 1974, Nowak was the 37th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on January 3, 1975. After eight re- election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1993 nine legislative sessions. Since 1983, he represented the 33rd district where his state. Throughout his time as a congressman, he was a member of the Committee on Public Works and Transportation. In 1992 he gave up another Congress candidate.
