Gaspard André

Gaspard André ( born March 16, 1840 in Lyon, † February 12, 1896 in Cannes) was a French architect.

André was born into a Protestant family from the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. In Lyon, he attended high school and the College of Fine Arts, in Paris, the École nationale supérieure des beaux -arts. After graduation, he worked as an architect in France and in Switzerland. To Andrés outstanding structures include the Théâtre des Célestins and the Jacobins fountain in Lyon, the city hall of Neuilly -sur- Seine and the Palais de Rumine in Lausanne ( main building of the University of Lausanne ). He was a representative of the eclectic style.
