George Brayton

George Brayton ( born October 3, 1830 in Rhode Iceland, † December 17, 1892 ) was an American mechanical engineer.

George Brayton was born as the son of William H. and Minerva ( Bailey ) Brayton. He became known through the formulation of a continuous combustion process, which is the thermodynamic basis for gas turbines and jet engines and is outside the United States known as the Joule cycle. He lived with his family in Boston.
