George Darling

George Darling, Baron Darling of Hillsborough, of Crewe in the County of Cheshire ( * July 20, 1905, † 18 October 1985) was a British journalist and politician of the Labour Party Co-operative Party, which for 24 years Member of the House of Commons was and 1974, as a life peer Life peerages Act due to the member of the House of Lords.

Life

Darling began after the school in 1919 as a fourteen year old have an occupation as a laborer in the railroad shops of Crewe and joined the Labour Party in 1923 as a member. In 1926 he began studying at the University of Leeds, where he became chairman of the Labour Club. Later, he studied economics at the University of Cambridge and graduated with a Master of Arts ( MAEcon. ). In the general election of 23 February 1950, he was elected as a Labour candidate / Co-operative Party in the constituency of Sheffield Hillsborough as an MP in the House of Commons after he had a candidate in the general election on November 14, 1935 without success in the constituency of Macclesfield. He belonged to the House of Commons up to the general election on 28 February 1974 for 24 years.
