George M. Young

George Morley Young ( born December 11, 1870 in lakelet, Huron County, Canada, † May 27, 1932 in New York City ) was an American politician. Between 1913 and 1924 he represented the second electoral district of the state of North Dakota in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Early years

Even as a child was George Young in the United States, where his family settled in St. Charles ( Michigan). He attended the public schools of his new home and then studied until 1894 at the Law Faculty of the University of Minnesota law. After his were made in the same year admitted to the bar he began in Valley City to work in his new profession.

Political career

George Young was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1898 and 1899 he was on the city council of Valley City, and from 1900 to 1902 deputy in the House of Representatives from North Dakota. He then belonged from 1904 to 1908 to the State Senate. He was president of this chamber. In the congressional elections of 1912 Young was elected for the second constituency of North Dakota in the U.S. House of Representatives. After some re- election he was able to exercise this mandate between March 1913 and September 2, 1924 3. On this day he resigned to take up a judgeship to the customs authorities in New York City. This office he held until his death in 1932, where he was still appointed in 1932 to the presiding judge. His congressional seat was in 1924 to Thomas Hall.
