George Wallace (film)

Wallace ( George Wallace ) is an American film biography of John Frankenheimer from the year 1997. Screenplay based on a book by Marshall Frady.

Action

The film tells about the life of the politician George Wallace. He begins in the 1950s, Wallace is then elected judge of a district. Wallace is sponsored by Governor Folsom and candidate himself for the office of governor. His sympathy for the Ku Klux Klan thwarts his ambitions.

In 1963 Wallace was elected governor of Alabama after he greatly makes up for the segregation. He then denied two African-American students in the Stand in the Schoolhouse Door admission to the University of Alabama. An organized by Martin Luther King, Jr. demonstration it can be reflected. Since the Constitution of the State prohibits reelection, he encouraged his wife Lurleen, to run for office.

Angelina Jolie and the film as Best TV Movie in 1998 won the Golden Globe Award. Gary Sinise and Mare Winningham have been nominated for a Golden Globe Award. John Frankenheimer, Gary Sinise and Mare Winningham won the 1998 Emmy Award. Among the five nominations for the Emmy Award for clients such as the camera work and for Angelina Jolie.

Gary Sinise won the 1998 Golden Satellite Award. The film as Best TV Movie, Mare Winningham and Joe Don Baker were nominated for the same price. Gary Sinise won the 1998 Screen Actors Guild Award, Mare Winningham was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. The screenplay was nominated for the 1998 Writers Guild of America Award.

The film received the 1998 Excellence in Production Design Award from the Art Directors Guild, the American Society of Cinematographers Award and the price Eddie from the American Cinema Editors.
