George Washington Kipp

George Washington Kipp ( born March 28, 1847 in Greene, Pike County, Pennsylvania, † July 24, 1911 on Vancouver Iceland, Canada ) was an American politician. Between 1907 and 1909, and again in 1911 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

George Kipp attended the public schools of his home. In the following 35 years he worked in the lumber business. Then he hit as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. In 1880 he was District ( County Commissioner) in Wayne County. In the congressional elections of 1906, Kipp was in the 14th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of the Republican Mial Eben Lilley on March 4, 1907. Since he did not run in 1908, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1909. Then he applied unsuccessfully for the post of Minister of Finance of Pennsylvania.

In the elections of 1910, Kipp was re-elected in the 14th district of his state in Congress, where he replaced Charles Clarence Pratt on March 4, 1911 which was two years before become his successor. He could exercise his office until his death on 24 July 1911. However, he died before the inaugural session of the Congress elected in 1910.
