Georges Sérès

Georges Seres sr. ( Born April 6, 1887 in La Romieu, † 26 July 1951 in Paris) was a French cyclist and World Champion.

From 1904 to 1925 Georges Seres was a professional bicycle racer. 1918 Georges Seres occupied during road race Paris -Tours in third place. As a result, he played mainly pacemaker race on the track and became one of the most popular sportsmen in France. Between 1919 and 1925, he was five times French champion stayer in 1920 also European champion. 1922 crashed Seres with a pacemaker race in New Bedford, was run over by the pacemaker Arthur Pasquier and suffered 17 fractures.

In the UCI Track World Championships 1920 in Antwerp Seres won the title in 1924 he became vice - world champion and 1925 he finished third. He also drove six-day race, which he won in Paris three: 1921 Oscar Egg, 1922 and 1924 with Emile Aerts.

His sons, George and Arthur, were successful cyclist. Georges Seres Jr. drove pacemaker race, in which he was held by his father as a pacemaker.
