Germanium (IV ) iodide is an inorganic chemical compound of the germanium from the group of iodides.
Production and representation
Germanium (IV ) iodide (IV) can be obtained with boiling oxide hydroiodic acid or germanium with iodine at temperatures over 220 ° C by the reaction of germanium.
Properties
Germanium (IV ) iodide is an orange-red crystalline solid, which hydrolyzes in water. It is soluble in carbon disulfide, and benzene, but less well with carbon tetrachloride and trichloromethane. It starts above the melting temperature in germanium (II ) iodide and iodine decay.
