Gero Trauth

Gero Trauth ( born June 25, 1942 in neurodegeneration, county Glatz, Lower Silesia) is a German painter, printmaker, illustrator and designer porcelain.

Life and work

Gero Trauth was born as the only child of specialist in general medicine Fritz Trauth and his wife Irene, born Jung ( sister of Fritz Jung). After the expulsion of 1946, the family came to West Germany and was established in Siegen. Trauth is married and has two grown daughters.

Training

Trauths training began in 1959 with an internship in the book Art Eggebrecht Press Mainz under Hans Schmidt. From 1960 to 1965 studied Trauth art, graphics and design at the National Art School in Mainz (now Fachhochschule Mainz ) and others in Gedo yolk soft (1983-1986 President of the Deutscher Werkbund ) and Alfred Tilp, sculpture at Heinz Müller- Olm, font and Book History at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Aloys Ruppel and history of book illustration at Helmut Presser, Director of the Gutenberg Museum. Painting and Design

Since 1966, Trauth worked as a freelance artist and designer with a studio in Siegen. In 1972 the design and construction of his artistically developed in house. Porcelain Illustration

In 1983 the highly productive collaboration with Villeroy & Boch / Heinrich porcelain in Selb, which lasted until 1997. Trauth coined in this period, the product of Heinrich porcelain prevail. The exclusive service collections were supervised by Trauth and Paloma Picasso, whose object series Paloma Picasso - Suite de Vases decorated Trauth. Cappella Gero Trauth

2003 established the new exhibition pavilion Cappella Gero Trauth in Siegen. This building was designed by Trauth, provides interior and exterior is a work of art and is a symbiosis of works of world literature and Trauths art that is intended as a refuge for his collection; ZDF and 3sat reported on it ( "... a marble hall of unusual architecture and beauty ").
