Giorgio Sommer

Giorgio Sommer ( born September 2, 1834 in Frankfurt am Main; † August 7, 1914 in Naples) was a German photographer who worked mainly in Italy.

Life

A native of Frankfurt am Main summer completed a commercial apprenticeship before moving to photography.

In 1856 he went to Italy, first to Rome, then to Naples, where he in 1857 opened his own photo studio. As a photographer and publisher Giorgio Sommer was extraordinarily successful. With numerous authentic photographs to disasters and volcanic eruptions he wrote history.
