Giraffe, Meerkats & Co. is a zoo docu-soap of the Hessischer Rundfunk (HR). The viewer looks behind the scenes of the Frankfurt Zoo and the Kronberger Opel - Zoo. The vet and the keepers are accompanied in their daily work, so that the viewers get an insight into everyday life and the professional world of zoos.
Produces the series of Hessischer Rundfunk. The editorial is Barbara Uecker, Frank Boehm, Katja and Claudia Ludwig Balzer from HR. The first season of the series includes 44 episodes, reaching at first screened in the First (ARD) from 23 October 2006, the average 2.37 million viewers. The second season of 40 episodes aired from 5 May 2008. The third season with 40 episodes began on 25 May 2009 during the First. The broadcast of the fourth season began on February 23, 2011. The fourth season includes 40 episodes. Season 5 was launched on May 14, 2012, and also includes 40 episodes. The transmit start of the 6th season began in January 2014.
