Girod is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Montabaur.

Geography
The community lies in the Westerwald between Koblenz and Giessen at Eisenbach and on the edge of the Natural Park Nassau.
Kleinholbach is a district of Girod. The two villages are separated by the A 3
History
Girod was first mentioned in records in 1235.
Today's church was established on June 7, 1969 by recharge from the previously independent municipalities Girod ( 595 inhabitants) and Kleinholbach (326 inhabitants).

The two fields of Arms Red and gold are available for the districts Girod and Kleinholbach. The coat of arms colors red and silver for Kurtrier right and blue and gold for the Duchy of Nassau left symbolize the former rulers. The attributes of the patron saints of the churches of Girod (St. James ) and Kleinholbach (St. Peter and Paul ) are as crossed key and sword, St. Peter and Paul and the shell of St. James, and are therefore also presented symbolically for both districts.
