Location

Giurgiuleşti is the southernmost town on the border to Romania and Moldova. The village is located on the Prut River, near its confluence with the Danube. Here is a 600 meter long access of Moldova to the Danube.

Economy

In Giurgiuleşti is the first and only port on the Danube in Moldova. With the new port to avoid the reliance of Moldova from abroad is to be reduced for the import and export of goods (primarily petroleum).

Locally, a late Stone Age chieftain grave was found.
