Giuseppe Patanè

Giuseppe Patanè ( born January 1, 1932 in Naples, † May 29, 1989 Munich ) was an Italian operatic conductor.

Giuseppe Patanè was born in Naples, the son of the conductor Franco Patanè (1908-1968) and studied in his hometown. He made his debut there 1951. 1961 to 1962 he was principal conductor at the Opera Linz. He was also chief conductor of the Munich Radio Orchestra of 1985 to 1989.

Patanè broke out on May 29, 1989 suddenly collapsed from a heart attack during a performance of Gioacchino Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. He was taken to hospital, where he died. He and his wife Rita, of which he was already separated at the time of his death, had two daughters.
