Gordon Goodwin

Gordon L. Goodwin (* 1955 ) is an American jazz pianist, saxophonist, composer, arranger and conductor.

Goodwin began his musical training at California State University. After graduating, he played with musicians such as Pete Christlieb and Don Menza in Louie Bellson 's Big Band. He played there also further Les Hooper and Grant Geissman. Since then, Goodwin has in the American jazz scene a high degree of popularity with his band, Gordon Goodwin 's Big Phat band won. In the band playing, among other talents such as Wayne Bergeron, Eric Marienthal and Peter Erskine. So far the band has released five albums: Swingin ' for the Fences, which has received two Grammy nominations and on which as a guest soloist represented, among others, Arturo Sandoval, XXL, which received three nominations, and The Phat Pack, Act Your Age and That's How We Roll. Goodwin himself has won several awards, including a Grammy for Best Instrumental Arrangement for the film The Incredibles - The Incredibles. Furthermore, the Big Phat band the Warner production Bah, Humduck! A Looney Tunes Christmas 2006 set to music. The end of 2012 his arrangement of Salt Peanuts was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement in the category ( for Arturo Sandoval's album Dear Diz ( Every Day I Think Of You ) ). Two years later he won the award in this category for the arrangement of On Green Dolphin Street.
