Gornji Petrovci

Gornji Petrovci (Hungarian: Péterhegy ) is a municipality and a town in Goricko, the hilly part of the historical region of Prekmurje in Slovenia.

Geography

The municipality occupies the northern part of the hill and grave state of Goricko and touched with two hamlets of the border with Hungary. The municipality covers an area of ​​66.84 km ² and is bordered on the north by the Hungarian county Vas / iron castle, in the east on the community Šalovci, on the southeast by the municipality Moravske Toplice, in the south and southwest on the community Puconci, in the West on the community level and to the northwest by the municipality of Kuzma.

The municipal area includes the headwaters and upper reaches of flowing from west to east waters of Koritiški, Merak, Peskovski and Mala Krka stream, with heights around 260 m. The lowlands between the predominantly rolling hills and knolls are mostly forested. The highest point of the municipality with 404 m is the Srebni Breg, the silver mountain, on the watershed between the Mura and Raba, close to the Hungarian border. More pronounced hill in the parish district are: Sv. Ana 395 m, Huma 362 m, 364 m and Majorce Nedelski Breg 355 m, the historic Sonntagberg with its magnificent views, above the community center. The entire municipality is part of the Three Countries Park Raab Goričko Örseg.

The local authority has about 2250 inhabitants and is composed of 14 villages, which are represented in the coat of arms as a blue house with red roofs. Behind the modern place- names, the official Hungarian exonyms are led by 1890 in brackets.
