Gransdorf
Gran village is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Kyllburg.

Geography
Gran village lies in a valley through which flows the Spang Erbach. The town is near the American military base Spangdahlem and the Federal Highway 60
At Gran village also includes the residential places Biermuhle, Erlenhof, Eulendorf and Gelsdorf.
About two kilometers from the district Bernkastel -Wittlich starts (just a wood separates the courtyard Hau, belonging to country Scheid, and Gran village).
History
The village was mentioned for the first time in 1098 under the name " Grande Village".

Parish council
The local council in Gran village consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Coat of arms
Until the reorganization of parishes Gran village was the seat of a mother parish with numerous branches. Landmarks of Gran village is still the preferred high above the village former parish church of " St. Apollonia ". Patron saint of the old parish church was the Queen of Heaven and Mother of God, as its symbol, the crown was selected in the lower shield member.
Although the nearby Cistercian abbey Himmerod had to close in 1212 at the church patronage of the parish church part, bound as she was Grundherrin until the end of the Ancien Régime to Gran village. Their symbol, two ineinandergeschlungene rings, is shown in red in silver oblique beams.

Old Church of St. Apollonia
Towers over the town, built in the 14th century " Old Church St. Apollonia ". It is subject to since the 18th century to protect the Holy Saint Apollonia. It was for centuries the main church of a parish and was replaced only in the years 1923 to 1925 by a new church in the village below.
The church was restored over the years with the help of a support association founded in 1996 specifically, from the outside and inside. Members of the University of Applied Sciences Cologne ( study: restoration and conservation of art and cultural heritage ) have restored in the years 1998 to 2001 the establishment of the Baroque and Late Baroque partially. Further work on the outer skin and inside the former parish church followed, finally, the first Holy Mass was celebrated after a long time on 20 October 2001 in the Church.
Lime kiln
At the old lime kiln on the outskirts in the direction Gelsdorf, the second Kalkbrennfest was celebrated in the village in 2002. For this Pickließem limestone was brought from the neighboring village. According to ancient tradition, the lime was burned over three nights. Earlier Lime burning was in place a widely used method to obtain aid for house painting or vermin.
Village life
In the small town there are some clubs. Before any other of the " Farming Association -Suedeifel eV " is mentioned, which has set itself the goal to acquire historic tractors and agricultural implements to set this service and to preserve them for posterity.
