Gratens
Gratens is a commune with 676 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haute- Garonne and the Région Midi -Pyrénées in the historic Gascon province Savès. The inhabitants are called Gratinois.
General
Gratens is the irrigation canal Canal de Saint- Martory, 50 km south of Toulouse. The connections to the road network in France is national by the former route 626, now a part of the Itinéraire à Grand Gabarit, and produced by the Autoroute A64.
The population increased from 407 (1962) on the present state.
Attractions
- The church of Saint Michel from the 15th century is a monument historique since 1926.
- The castle is built of brick and stone in Renaissance style, has six large towers and in front of the main building a arcade gallery, also toulousaine from the Renaissance period
- The Croix de Gratens from the 18th century is a monument historique since 1953 also.
