The Gravenstein is a sort of culture apple (Malus domestica). The variety is known with certainty since 1669 in Denmark and Northern Germany.

She is one of the best tasting apple varieties, with typical European, aromatic flavor and fragrant fruits. The shell is soft waxy yellow with crimson dots and dashes, but there are more red types. These designated as Red Gravenstein variety is a " bud mutation ", but developed a less strong flavor.

The flesh is juicy, tender and flavorful and light yellow. The picking time is the apple from picking until early September, eaten by the end of August to November.

The tree stands out with strong growth with steeply upwardly mobile branches. He claimed to flourish a very moist soil that will not dry in the summer, but is still not jam wet.
