Green River Covered Bridge

The Green River is the second largest tributary of the Deerfield River in the U.S. states of Vermont and Massachusetts.

The Green River originates at Hogback Mountain in the Green Mountains in the Town of Marlboro in southern Vermont. From there it flows in a southeasterly direction through the Towns Halifax and Guilford. Then the river turns south and crosses the border into Massachusetts. There, it flows west past Greenfield and leads finally left side in the Deerfield River, about 3 km before its confluence with the Connecticut River. West of Green River runs the East Branch North River, also a tributary of the Deerfield River. The Green River has a length of 53 km and drains an area of 228 km ².

The section of the river from Green River to West Leyden on the middle reaches of the Green River forms a nearly 11 -km-long whitewater course of II - III degree of difficulty.
