Greg Ryan

Greg Ryan ( born January 21, 1957 in Dallas, Texas, USA) from 2005 to 2007 head coach of the U.S. women 's national soccer team.

Ryan was the successor of April Heinrichs. Under his leadership, the team reached the semifinals of the 2007 World Cup against Brazil, in which he surprisingly been used Come goalkeeper Hope Solo by Briana Scurry replaced. Ryan explained this with the greater experience of Scurry. However, the U.S. team lost the game 0:4, but was able to place three prevail against Norway in the game.

His contract expired on 31 December 2007 and was not renewed. He was replaced by Pia Sundhage, the Swedish woman. Since February 2008, Ryan is the head coach of the women's soccer team at the University of Michigan.
